My train from Bologna was 3 hours delayed for its arrival in Vienna, so I missed my connection. This new lunar meteorite had first been mistaken for an angrite until more detailed studies revealed its lunar origin.

Riem Market, Munich

You can search for the most exquisite markets, bargain, chat and purchase things throughout the day. Soon after my arrival on Friday noon I ran into Mike Farmer and Jim Strope from the United States, Dima and Sergey from Russia, and many other friends from all over the globe. I used to come here on occasions in its previous guise of the Fliegerbräu for some interesting beer choices and death by heavy Bavarian cuisine without having to go into central Munich, so was saddened when it shut down a few years ago. Fortunately we had a warm evening and were able to use the fine external beer garden at the back of the restaurant but internally not a lot seems to have changed from what I could see except for perhaps the removal of some of the previous aviation memorabilia and decoration. The Restaurant it self looks quiet interesting, but defenitley very under-staffed. Spent a week in Munich with friends and this was the only place we ate at more than once. It's a heavily brecciated ordinary chondrite with a fresh black fusion crust.

Flugwerk Feldkirchen

The flea market is organized by a non-profit association. Crew has expanded its beer selection considerably since they started just a couple of years ago. And for a beer garden any place that has a four page menu with one page for food and three pages for drinks including two for beer has my vote. There were only a few larger specimens for sale at the show, most at Hans Koser's table who showed a great selection of extraordinary Carancas specimens. A tiny hobby brewery in Neuhausen, Richelbräu has been going since 2008. As always, it took some time to arrive at the first dealers stall, and to check their new offers.

Only after going in the open kitchen asking for service a waiter came. Giesinger has grown considerably since its early days. In the heart of Feldkirchen we entertain our guests with hearty Bavarian - Austrian cuisine and home-brewed beers. I read in previous reviews that it looks like the service levels struggled when this place reopened last year. Located just outside of Munich in Feldkirchen, the Fliegerbräu has been open for just over twenty years. The Rum Fruit Cake is a nice and relatively light cake. But besides the Augustiner, Paulaner, Hofbräu, etc. Have you sampled the beers from the above breweries? The guest room on the ground floor can accommodate up to 160 people. It came to 25 Euros a head for a main dish and a couple of beers each, which seemed reasonable enough to me as a visitor compared to my usual Munich experiences, but I guess it will be the locals who will have to concur and determine if the Flugwerk is to be a long term success.

It's currently under extensive study, and I'm sure that this unusual rock will be good for a few more surprises, and revelations. I just wish I could have visited, and mentioned you all. The show - the biggest mineral fair in Europe and a major event for most meteorite people - was opening its gates from November 2 to 4, 2007, and there were many visitors from all over the world. We did lunch one day and dinner another day, and both meals were excellent. Now enjoy - I will! The on-premises beer was great and the menu had a wide variety of choices for all taste. Do you have any Munich microbreweries to add to this list? They offer , ranging from a fruity Weizen to a chocolate-coloured ale. It would be unfair to compare the Flugwerk with the old Fliegerbräu as that was a legend in its day. The airframe I fulfill my dream of Bavarian inn , brewery and local cuisine. I had the curry wurst for dinner and it was great! There were many more dealers and meteorites all over the show, but since I had arrived only at Friday noon, and had to leave early on Saturday morning I hadn't the time to check into each and every hall, and each and every stall. Light because there's not butter neither in the chocolate sponge nor in the filling.

The Riem Market, is one of the largest flea markets in Germany. But perhaps that has now been addressed and our experience on this visit was okay with three members of staff serving the outside Beer garden for our visit and we didn't have to wait too long to order and to receive the food and drinks despite the outside space being busy on this evening. . Their ingredients are entirely local — with hops from the Hallertau and malt and barley from Swabia. As always, Moritz Karl's table stood out, as well as Bruno's and Carine's stall with a great selection of historic meteorites, and rare types from the hot deserts of Northwest Africa.
